ClipChat
Just like a Picture Talk, A ClipChat is an effective and engaging way for enhancing language acquisition through visual media and Comprehensible Input strategies. In fact, the working method is more or less the same as with a Picture Talk, only it takes longer and with a ClipChat, you work with moving images instead of still images.
So, in ClipChat a short video clip is used as a source of language input. The clip is carefully selected based on students' language level and relevance to the lesson objective. Before the full clip is played, it is viewed in pieces, pausing at a few well-chosen images to circle the vocabulary and grammatical structures in that specific image. Personally, I find it cumbersome to pause the video at the right time each time. For this reason, I prefer working with a presentation where I paste screenshots of those images (on the left side of the slide) alongside additional photos I need to clarify meaning or for circling.
After circling, the entire clip is played, giving students a opportunity to experience and understand the language in context.
The following example is a commercial video about a language school. You can watch it here:

It's already an old commercial video, so unfortunately, the quality isn't that good. But the video is still useful for language lessons. Below, you can see the first slide of the presentation I made for the ClipChat with this video.
