My name is Janique Vanderstocken. I live in Belgium near Ghent and I work at Ligo, Center for Basic Education Ghent-Meetjesland-Leieland.

In 1985, I started to teach Dutch as a second language to adult immigrants and refugees with very few school experience. This was in a non-profit organization that provided language classes for adults and also engaged in youth work and after-school support for the children of immigrants. 
​Initially, I worked there as a volunteer, later, I got a paid job.
In 1990, all organizations providing language lessons or literacy courses merged into one entity. This marked the establishment of the Centers for Basic Education (schools especially for adults with few school experience or illiterate adults). I also made the transition.​

Now, 39 years later, I still work with adults with limited educational background. The longer I do this job, the more I love it. Teaching with Comprehensible Input has become truly my passion!
For the past few years, I have been working with Comprehensible Input as the basis for my lessons.

I have attended several CI conferences, both in person and online, and I have also presented at:

- The Dynamic Language Learning Conference (Netherlands) - 2022, 2023, and 2024
- The Funn Conference (Germany) - 2023 and 2024
- The online conference "Comprehended!" - 2020 and 2021

- The CI conference of IFLT - 2023
